On September 2, 2004, Professor Yanovsky Yury G., Director of the Institute of Applied Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), visited the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS). Through thorough discussions, the two Institutes realize that both sides are engaged in extensive programs of research of mutual interests and more academic exchanges will be beneficial to the both sides. Therefore guided by the principle of equality and mutual benefit and respect, the two institutes agreed to explore the possibility of developing various collaborative efforts, including joint research activities, exchanges of visiting scientists and information (e.g. research publications) as well as organization of bilateral academic workshops, seminars and symposiums of mutual interests. Director Youshi Hong of Institute of Mechanics, CAS and Director Yanovsky Yury G., of Institute of Applied Mechanics, RAS signed the Memorandum On Academic Exchanges between the two Institutes.
