Abstract:
We discuss about the rotating magnetohydrodynamics and its application, i.e. the dynamo problem which concerns with the magnetic field generation in the interior of planets and stars. We focus on some problems relevant to the mechanical force driven dynamo, e.g. spherical Couette flow, precessional flow, and helical wave.

Dr. Weixing received his B.S.(2002) and M.S.(2004) degree at Tsinghua University, and he earned his Ph.D(2008) degree at University of Cambridge. After that he carried on his study at ETH Zurich as a postdoctoral researcher during 2009~2011. He is now a postdoctoral fellow at University of Gottingen, Germany. His current interest is on the magnetohydrodynamics and its application in geophysics.
