  • The United Testing System for Surface Properties and Morphology Developed

    Recently the united testing system for surface properties and morphology was successfully developed by the Division of Technology Development (DTD) of IMECH. It can serve as an effective tool to investigate mechanical properties of coating layer/surface layer including hardness, adhesion strength, coating strength as well as the relation between these properties and the microstructure. This system consists of five individual components, i.e., the versatile mechanical properties testing subsystem, the microscopic testing & analysis subsystem, the 3D surface morphology machine, the multifunctional scratching machine and the laser induced thermal fatigue subsystem. Moreover, the versatile mechanical properties testing subsystem and microscopic testing & analysis subsystem are both of high integrity and digitalization. With all ready technological documents, the scheduled technological objectives have been satisfactorily reached; All the equipments are available and have taken effect in the scientific research. Thus a comprehensive platform with novel and high utility structure for the experimental study of surface and/or interface properties has been available not only for IMECH but also for the other surrounding research units.
