“The prediction theory and numerical analysis method for severe engineering geological disaster” program, which commit to solve key scientific problems of various disasters such as landslide, collapse and mud-rock flow, has been supported by National Basic Research Program, with Professor Li Shihai of IMECH as the chief scientist.

Though this research, engineering geological prediction theory will be developed deeply and the basic scientific problems in scientific and engineering computation will be solved, such as Disaster state identification and on-line numerical analysis of complex geo-mass; Gradual failure evolution rule and disaster mechanism of geo-mass; Multi-scale numerical analysis method of engineering geological disaster.

The five years program started from Jan. 2010 and the kick off meeting was held on Dec. 6, 2009.
