Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) delegation of 9 members, headed by Vice President Yukihide Hayashi, visited Key Laboratory of Microgravity (NML), Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) on Dec. 15, 2009. Deputy director of IMCAS professor Huang Chenguang, director of NML professor Long Mian, deputy director of NML professor Liu Qiusheng, and major researchers of NML took part in the talk.

Professor Huang Chenguang extended warm welcome to JAXA delegation. He introduced the profile of IMCAS and research projects of IMCAS studied in the field of aerospace science and technology. Professor Long Mian presented the general information of NML and the research progress of space experimental payloads, microgravity fluid physics, space material science, biology mechanics, and biotechnology. JAXA delegation visited laboratories and drop tower of NML after presentation and discussion.

Key Laboratory of Microgravity of Chinese Academy of Sciences (NML/CAS) and Institute of Space and Astronautical Science of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency(ISAS/JAXA)have collaborated with each other for many years. China-Japan microgravity science forum and pan pacific microgravity symposium have been hold jointly by NML/CAS and ISAS/JAXA for 7 times and 2 times, respectively. In this visit, NML and JAXA engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on the issues of deeper bilateral collaboration and forming an international cooperation team in the future.
