Chinese Journal of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics was founded in 1957 by Hsue-Shen Tsien, the first chief editor of the Journal. It is sponsored by Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) and the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM). The former chief editors are Hsue-Shen Tsien, Yonghuai Guo, Zhemin Zheng, Tongji Lin, Kezhi Huang, Chengkang Wu, Ziqiang Wang, Wei Yang, Gengdong Cheng, Quanshui Zheng, Yuegang Wei, and the current chief editor is Xiyun Lu (University of Science and Technology of China).

Advances in Mechanics is a comprehensive academic journal supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and jointly sponsored by the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, focusing on publishing high-level review articles in the field of mechanics, with special attention to the bidirection drive of mechanics and applications.

Mechanics in Engineering first published in 1979. It is administrated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese, Academy of Sciences jointly as the responsible institutions. It covers general fields of mechanics, with the widest circulation among journals devoted to mechanics in China. Its focuses are on progresses of mechanics and its interdisciplinary fields, applications in engineering, teaching notes on mechanics, profiles of scientists of mechanics, history of mechanics, interesting anecdotes, book reviews and others.

Acta Mechanica Sinica (AMS) is an international journal founded in 1985, published by Springer, and sponsored by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM).

Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters (TAML) was launched in 2011 and sponsored by Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) and The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM). From 1st January 2015, all papers published on TAML will be open accessed, permanently and freely available on www.ScienceDirect.com.
