About IMECH

The Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS) is the first dedicated national centre for comprehensive mechanics research in China. The first director is Qian Xuesen. Through several generations of scientists’ steadfast efforts, the institute has built an international prestige within the mechanics community, and has made a great contribution to the economic and social development of China. The primary research directions of IMCAS include micro-scale mechanics and trans-scale correlation, high-temperature gas dynamics and trans-atmosphere flight, microgravity science and its applications, key mechanical problems in oceanic engineering, environment, energy & transportation, mechanics in advanced manufacturing as well as biomechanics and bioengineering.

Since its establishment, IMCAS has undertaken a large variety of large-scale research project sand has been responsible for many remarkable scientific and technological innovations. The Institute has won more than 230 national and regional awards, including China’s prestigious Preeminent Science and Technology Award, 37 National Science and Technology Awards, and 24 awards from the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and the central government. Over 60 years of development, the institute has boasted many accomplishments in promoting the development of mechanical research and high-tech industries in China and has enjoyed a reputation for training and mentoring outstanding scientific and technological talents. In this regard, the institute will continue to make a prominent contribution to the development of science and technology in China.

Vacancies

Thousand Talents Program (Long-Term/Short-Term)

The applicant should hold a PhD Degree; Should be under the age of 55; Should be a full professor in an overseas world-class institution.

 

Thousand Talents Program (Young Scholars)

The applicant should hold a PhD Degree; Should be under the age of 40; Should have at least three-years research experience in an overseas world-class institution, or a top-ranking.

 

CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program A

The applicant should be a full professor in a world-class institution; Should have made demonstrable and significant achievements in the corresponding field; Should have strong leadership and teamwork skills.

 

CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program B

The applicant should master key technologies, and have at least three years of research experience in technology innovation or development; Should be able to demonstrate an excellent record of research achievements in the corresponding field.

 

CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program C

The applicant should have a PhD Degree, and have at least three years of research experience in a world-class institution; Should be able to demonstrate significant innovative achievements in the corresponding research area; Applicants must have been awarded their PhD for less than 5 years.

 

IM Talents Program A

The applicant should have a PhD Degree; Should be under the age of 55; Should be a full professor and have at least three years of research experience in an overseas world-class institution; should be to able to demonstrate considerable research achievements, and hold a strong international reputation in corresponding field; Should harbour outstanding abilities in management, coordination of teamwork and implementation of large-scale scientific projects.

 

IM Talents Program B

The applicant should have a PhD Degree; Should be under the age of 45; Should be an assistant professor or above, and have at least three years of research experience in a world-class institution or a top-ranking company; Should have demonstrable achievements in corresponding field. The applicant should also have the ability to lead a research team and implement large-scale projects.

 

IM Talents Program C

The applicant should have been awarded a PhD Degree within the last 5 years; Should be under the age of 35; Should have at least three years of research experience in a world-class institution, or a top-ranking company; Should be able to demonstrate research achievements with distinctive features and development potential.

Thousand Talents Program (Long-Term/Short-Term)

Full Professor

Long-Term: The awardee, regarded as a talent of CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program A, will enjoy a research start-up fund of 10 million RMB($1584500) in totally from CAS, plus national funding and allowances; The start-up fund provided by IMCAS and salary would be determined through negotiation.

Short-Term: The awardee will enjoy a research start-up fund of 300KRMB ($47,700) by IMCAS.

 

Thousand Talents Program (Young Scholars)

Full Professor

The awardee will receive a research start-up fund of 2 million RMB ($316900) from CAS and an extra 1 million RMB (($159200)) from IMCAS, plus national fund and allowance; The awardee will enjoy a personal allowance of 500K RMB ($79600)from IMCAS; A sizable apartment could be rent at an affordable rate;

 

CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program A

Full Professor

The awardee will enjoy a research start-up fund of 7 million RMB ($1.1 million)and a personal housing allowance of 1 million RMB ($159200) from CAS; The start-up fund provided by IMCAS and salary would be determined through negotiation.

 

CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program B

Full Professor

The awardee will enjoy a research start-up fund of 1-2 million RMB ($159200318400) and a personal housing allowance of 600K RMB ($95520) from CAS; The awardee will receive a research start-up fund of 500KRMB ($79600)and a personal allowance of 300KRMB ($47760) from IMCAS; An apartment could be rent at an affordable rate.

 

CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program C

Special-term Professor

The candidate will enjoy a research start-up fund of 800K RMB ($127300) by CAS and an additional 500K RMB ($79600) from IMCAS; After passing the probation period, the awardee will receive a research fund of 2 million RMB ($318400) and a personal housing allowance of 900K RMB ($143300); An apartment will be available at an affordable rate.

Full Professor

The start-up fund provided by IMCAS and income would be decided through negotiation.

 

IM Talents Program B

Full Professor

The awardee will enjoy a research start-up fund of 1 million RMB ($159200) and a personal allowance of 600K RMB ($95500) from IMCAS; An apartment will be available at an affordable rate.

 

IM Talents Program C

Associate Professor

The awardee will enjoy a research start-up fund of 500K RMB ($79600) and a personal allowance of 300K RMB ($47700) from IMCAS; An apartment available at an affordable rate.

 

*Full-time introduced talents with senior and deputy senior professional titles will enjoy at least 5 million (79300) and 3 million (47600) per year, respectively, during projects above execution. Talents entering Thousand Talents Program of short-term will enjoy a weekly salary of 10 thousand per week.
