4th International Conference on Experimental mechanics 2009(ICEM 2009)
http://icem2009.net/
Nov. 18-20, 2009,Singapore
The Asian Committee on Experimental Mechanics (ACEM) conference series returns to Singapore from 18-20, Nov. 2009. The International Conference on Experimental Mechanics (ICEM) as it is known in the Singapore series was previously held here in 1996, 2000 and 2004. The conference has grown over the years and this year, despite the economic downturn, we expect another exciting and successful event. This time around instead of the 4 themes as in the last conference, we plan to have 8 Symposia, each organized by a leading person in that area. We plan to expand the conference into areas such as Experimental Fluid Mechanics, Dynamics and Vibration, Optics and Laser Applications, amongst others. We also plan to encourage student papers and hope to organize some special events for students at this conference.
Apart from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), we have the support of the newly formed Optics and Photonics Society of Singapore (OPSS) and the Singapore Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Group (SingTAM) to help promote the activities. We also have some overseas partners in the SPIE and possibly the Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM) and the European Society of Experimental Mechanics (EuraSEM). We also hope that the regional experimental mechanics groups in China and Japan would actively promote this conference to their members.
As in the past conferences, one of the traditions of the Singapore conference has been the beer and karaoke session on the last day which allows you to let your hair down and display your musical expertise to an appreciative audience. We plan to continue this at the Tiger Tavern so hope you stay till the end of the conference.
This conference focuses on the following major topics
A. Experimental Solid Mechanics (ESM)
B. Experimental Fluid Mechanics (EFM)
C. Non-Destructive Testing and Smart Structures (NDTSS)
D. Micro and Nano-Mechanics (MNM)
E. Biomechanics and Life Sciences (BLS)
F. Structural Dynamics and Vibration (SDV)
G. Optics and Laser Applications (OLA)
H. Hybrid Methods and Image Processing (HMIP)
