To improve the test ability of high-speed train aerodynamics, a new moving model rig (MMR) was established in Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The rig can implement the aerodynamic tests of 1:8 scale three-car train models to the speed of up to 600km/h for single-train and two-train passing by each other in tunnel or in open air.

The moving model rig possesses the test capability of high-speed train aerodynamics，such as aerodynamic force, pressure distribution, micro-pressure wave and slipstream of the train.

The research group of MMR has deeply participated the developing of the high-speed train in our country. The CRH380A (Hexie high-speed trian) and CR400AF (Fuxing high-speed train) were tested the aerodynamic performance with MMR. The technical support for the high-speed train aerodynamics were recognized and praised by CRRC.
