Recent Progress on Numerical Simulation of Fluid/Structure Interaction for Flight Vehicles
Date:2005-01-20Source:
Flutter is the coupling physical phenomena which involve significant mutual interaction among inertial, elastic and aerodynamic forces. In the developing processes of high speed flight vehicles, lots of aviation accidents and air disasters are induced by this dynamic instability. Flutter is one of main barriers for the design of high performance vehicles.
When a vehicle flights transonic region, due to the shock motion on the wall surface, the flutter becomes special serious, the prediction of transonic flutter boundaries require the coupling solution of nonlinear fluid and structural equations, which is the present difficult problem in aerodynamic area.
Professor Guowei Yang and his group members take the difficult problem as their main investigation direction. Through the active endevour of more than 5 years, they have developed the full implicit coupling algorithm, dynamic mesh deformation technique and data transformation method for fluid/structure interaction calculation, overcame the limit of linear theory only suitable for subsonic and supersonic regions. Significant influences have been reflected on the academic and engineering departments.
Recent years, relative 5 investigation papers were invited to report on the relative domestic and international academic conferences. Two papers have been published on the international famous journal of Journal of Aircraft and they were also invited by the editor-in-chief of the international journal of Structural Engineering Mechanics to publish their investigation results.
